  • Padre Brown Relatos Completos (Unabridged)

    $24.99

  • Forgiveness : A Catholic Approach

    $19.95

Whether we are uncertain what real forgiveness looks like, are tired of forgiving, or don’t know where to start, Forgiveness: A Catholic Approach offers spiritual considerations and practical guidance.

In Forgiveness: A Catholic Approach, Father R. Scott Hurd writes of the spiritual, psychological, physical, and social benefits of learning how to forgive and find peace. Drawing from his pastoral experience, in twenty-four short chapters, Father Hurd examines how human weakness affects such things as our ability to forgive and reconcile, our capacity to trust, and how we cope when a plea for forgiveness is rejected by a person we have wronged. We learn that through these very experiences, we find in Jesus Christ and the sacraments a way to move forward toward healing.

The first question Father Hurd addresses is one that perplexes many people, why forgive? Here we learn that forgiveness is essential for human growth and flourishing. Forgiveness is not only a human experience; it is an expression of God’s love and mercy. Forgiveness is at once deeply personal and an opportunity for sharing the Good News. As participants in the New Evangelization, our acts of forgiveness and reconciliation offer people an experience of God’s love. Father Hurd writes, Forgiveness from our hearts can turn others’ hearts toward God.

All of us know that there is more to forgiveness than simply saying I’m sorry. In the section entitled, Hallmarks of Forgiveness, Father Hurd deftly outlines seven such marks of forgiveness that reflect the teaching and example of Our Lord. In Jesus, we learn how to forgive others as God has forgiven us. Forgiveness is a decision, a process, and a gift.

Equally challenging today is the question of how to forgive. In Forgiveness: A Catholic Approach we find an entire section on this topic. With priestly wisdom, Father Hurd examines a wide variety of experiences of forgiveness and reconciliation. With examples from Scripture, Church tradition, literature, and his own ministry, he offers a useful ten-step process to aid people ready to make the decision to forgive.

    Psalms of Descriptive Praise
    Psalms of Trust or Confidence
    Wisdom Psalms

Psalms of descriptive praise, also known as hymns, praise God for his ongoing, regular care of the world and humanity (from p. 8 of the commentary). Psalms of trust or confidence reinforce the belief that the God who made and loves us will protect us in difficult situations. Wisdom psalms are an acknowledgment of God’s justice in the right ordering of human affairs.

Leslie J. Hoppe, OFM, is an adjunct professor at Catholic Theological Union after serving on its faculty for twenty-four years, and serves as the provincial minister of the Assumption Province Franciscans. He has written several books on biblical studies and archaeology, including The Holy City: Jerusalem in the Theology of the Old Testament (Liturgical Press, 2000). He is a former editor of The Bible Today and currently serves on its editorial board.

In the Bible, the primary role of the prophet is to speak for God, to see and hear as God sees and hears, and then to pronounce words of correction and hope. In Isaiah, we encounter God’s accusation against Israel; the holiness of God; hope for a messianic king; oracles against foreign nation; prophecies of restoration; and challenges for exiles returning to their homeland. The book of Isaiah is quoted in the New Testament more often than any other Old Testament writing other than the Psalms. It is a compilation of the prophetic work of an eighth-century prophet (chs. 1-35), an exilic disciple called Second Isaiah (chs. 4-55), and postexilic writings called Third Isaiah (chs. 56-66).

  • How Love Acts

    $9.95

In life, we are often confronted with two worlds: our ideal world and the real world. In an ideal world, life is comfortable, predictable, pleasant, and we find that all our needs and desires are met. In the real world this is rarely the case.

How should we handle adversity, when the ideal life is pushed aside, and real life sets in? In this inspiring talk, Jeff Cavins explores this very question. Rather than running from-or merely coping with life-God is calling us to live our life to the fullest! We have been given the task to turn our sufferings, trials, and even minor inconveniences into joy by uniting them with the cross of Christ. And, like Christ, we are not alone. We meet Him, and our Blessed Mother, at every cross we face.

Listen and learn how to reorient yourself toward Christ, and unite your sufferings with His. You will be much better equipped to face whatever may come in the future.

  • What Ticks You Off And How To Deal With It

    $9.95

So often our troubles in life center around anger, quarrelling, and disputes. We may not be getting what we want out of our relationships with others, and when this happens, the blame game begins.

In this talk inspired by the epistle of James, Jeff Cavins shows how our displeasures in life are a result of expecting from this world what only God can provide. When we desire created things rather than their Creator, we are left wanting. Cavins explores the four levels of happiness, and he demonstrates how redirecting our passions for heavenly realities provides us with a peace that this world cannot offer.

  • Freedom To Love CD Set

    $34.95

The world tells us that freedom is the ability to do what you want, whenever you want, with whomever you want. But has this led to strong relationships, strong families, or strong communities? In reality, since the days of the sexual revolution, the exact opposite has played out. Every day we see rampant sexual chaos, exploitation, broken families, and a lot of pain – all as a result of an abuse and misunderstanding of freedom.

Recognizing the world’s confusion, Pope John Paul II proclaimed the Theology of the Body (TOB) – a profound message of love and human sexuality. He turned the notion of freedom on its head, declaring it to be selfless rather than selfish. He says freedom exists for the sake of love, meaning that freedom is the means and love is the end. Therefore, authentic freedom always asks what is the good of the other person, not what’s in it for me?

In this powerful five-part study for young adults, popular author and presenter Christopher West lays out a convincing and refreshing road map to living a life of freedom. The concepts presented in this study will change everything, including your worldview. Freedom to Love is ideal for college campus and parish young adult ministries.

Freedom to Love addresses critical questions, including:

    * What is the Theology of the Body and how can it change my life?
    * What does it mean to live a life of freedom?
    * What does love look like and how do I live it?
    * How can I tell the difference between love and lust?
    * What is the problem with pornography?
    * Doesn’t contraception make me free?
    * Does God have a plan for my future?

This study explores the major events and characters of the Bible that exemplify God’s call to be pilgrims who are looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and maker is God (Heb 11:10). Among the biblical pilgrims and sojourners encountered in the study are Abraham and Sarah, Moses and the people of the Exodus, the Jews of the Babylonian exile, the Holy Family and Christ’s first disciples. This 11 CD series contains the audio from the Psalms DVD series in which Jeff Cavins, Sarah Christmyer, and Dr. Tim Gray provide comprehensive teaching and commentary on the Psalms. Each 50-55 minute talk is designed to follow a lesson in the Psalms Study Set.

About Psalms: The School of Prayer:

With Psalms: The School of Prayer, The Great Adventure moves from telling the Story to making it personal. While the historical books of the Bible recount God’s creative and redemptive acts in history, the Psalms reveal Israel’s response to God’s covenant offer and serve as a model for our response to Him. Indeed, one could say that the historical books tell the outside of the story of Israel by giving an historical perspective, while the Psalms tell the inside story, which comes from the deeply personal perspective of one who is seeking God. Our communication with God is enhanced by a deeper understanding of the book of Psalms and of the individual psalms that reside in each of our hearts.
